Rosacea Sufferers: Relief is Here!

March 28, 2012

Rosacea is a common but poorly understood skin condition of the facial region. According to the National Rosacea Society (NRS) in Barrington, Illinois, rosacea effects an estimated 14 million Americans, and is ranked amongst the most diagnosed disorders by dermatologists in the United States. The most common age group where rosacea becomes noticeable is 30-55 year olds, and women outnumber men with rosacea two-to-one. This is a time when many women enter menopause, but other suspected triggers are reactions to drugs and ingredients in cosmetics.Rosacea Sufferers: See REAL Results Immediately! The condition and symptoms vary and include sensitive and easily irritated skin, redness on the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead, bumps or pimples on the face, and watery or irritated eyes. Many people with rosacea may not even know they have this condition and assume they are sun sensitive or simply blush or flush easily. Rosacea is categorized in stages and when it goes untreated, progresses to a more severe stage. While rosacea is considered a chronic (long term), non-curable skin condition with periodic flare-ups and remissions, it cannot be cured, but can be controlled and treated, with great results.

Rosacea is sometimes treated with antibiotics, or with a topical cream or gel (Metrogel), but avoiding a flare up is key. Foods can play a role in flare ups. Avoid hot and spicey foods, alcoholic beverages, and situations that would cause you to flush or blush. Avoid exercising in the mid day heat. It is best to workout earlier in the morning when the air is cooler. Also avoid extreme heat or extreme cold whenever possible. Protect yourself from the sun and wind, wear sunscreen and a hat when outdoors, and avoid harmful chemicals in your cosmetics and hair products.
